February 1, 2022 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM
A Smart Cycling Classroom class.
Registration has ended for this event
The Smart Cycling curriculum is designed to develop confidence and competence of a bicycle rider. The course includes four hours of classroom instruction, and five hours of on-bike instruction. Students will learn about choosing a bicycle, basic parts of a bike, essential equipment, as well as how to safely and comfortably ride your bike in various traffic conditions, terrain and climates. The on-bike portion of the class involves developing handing skills including hazard avoidance maneuvers, and riding with traffic, using lane positioning techniques and principals of traffic law. Smart Cycling classes are taught by League Cycling Instructors (LCI).
Part 1 (on-line) - Tuesday, Feb. 1st (6:00 – 7:30pm)
Part 2 (on-line) - Thursday, Feb. 3rd (6:00 – 7:30pm)
Part 3 - Saturday, Feb. 5th, (9am to 3pm), will be the on-bike portion of the class. Please bring your bicycle, helmet and comfortable riding clothes of your choice. These do not have to be cycling specific clothes. Jeans and t-shirt are fine if you prefer. The class will be practicing handling and hazard avoidance skills in our parking lot, then head out for an approximately 5-6 mile street ride that will take about an hour and a half.
For those going on to LCI Seminar, there will be a mandatory multiple choice test at the end of the class, but all are welcome to take it for fun and reflection.
